Player Registration 2019/2020

Burnaby New Westminster Ringette welcomes male and female players 4 years and up for our coed teams.  No prior experience is required.


BNWRA is home to players who reside in Burnaby and New Westminster.  Please see the BCRA Player Release Policy if you live outside these areas but wish to register with BNWRA.  The completed Player Release Form must be emailed to the registrar (registrar(at)bnwr.ca) and association president (president(at)bnwr.ca).


There is no limit to the number of youth spaces available.  Those under 19-years of age are guaranteed placement on a Lower Mainland Ringette League (LMRL) team.

^The 18+ division is for players 18-years and older who are experienced ringette players and therefore are not eligible for New Player pricing.  18+ players no longer require caliber or geographic releases, meaning U18+ players are permitted to register with any association.

*The New Player rate is intended to to encourage new families to try ringette.  As a result, it does not apply to siblings of existing players in FUN through U19.  Players released by other ringette associations are not eligible for the discounted New Player pricing, nor are players who are returning to ringette after an extended absence. Masters are eligible for the New Player rate.     

Returning Player Priority
Returning BNWRA players have priority registration to May 31.  Players who were not BNWRA members in the previous season may register starting June 1.  Returning Player Discount effective until June 30.

Late Registration Fee

Late Registration Fee are for those registering after January 1, 2020.  No further discounts or rebates may be applied.  Players will not be eligible for New Player Discount the following season.

BNWR Returning Player Discount ($50)

Player must have played for BNWRA in the previous season.  Registration must be completed by June 30.

AGM Discount ($25)

To promote attendance at the AGM which is important to meet quorum, fill our executive, and pass motions, all of which are important to the organization.  Attend the AGM and sign the attendance sheet in order to qualify. Only applicable to those who attended the 2018/19 Season AGM on April 9, 2019.

Player-Coach Rebate
 - 50% off for Head Coach
 - 25% off for Assistant Coach

Our Association has a long and proud tradition of players who also commit to coach a team.  We appreciate their leadership and recognize their important contribution and commitment to developing younger athletes. The discount rebate will be issued at the end of the season.

Player-Coach Roster Priority

In an effort to encourage experienced players to give back their knowledge and skills and develop future players, any person who applies and is selected to serve as a head coach will be guaranteed a roster position for the current season, provided they have registered and have also submitted their coaching application form by no later than June 30.

Player Referral Rebate ($50)

To encourage our members to promote the sport of ringette receive a rebate of $50 for recruiting new players.  The new recruit should record on their registration form if they were recruited by a member.  The Player Referral Form must be complete and submitted to  (registrar(at)bnwr.ca)  before December 31, 2019.


Refund Policy

  • All requests for registration fee refunds must be made in writing by the individual who paid the fees to the attention of the Registrar (registrar(at)bnwr.ca).
  • Requests made prior to September 15 will be granted a full refund less a $25 administrative fee.
  • Requests made from September 16 to November 30 will receive a pro-rated refund based on the remaining season less a $25 administrative fee.
  • No refunds will be issued after November 30.
  • BNWR is not responsible for any monies paid to a team, team manager or team coach and BNWR will not entertain requests for any such refunds.
  • Allow 4 – 6 weeks for refund to be processed.


Team Fees and Jersey Deposits

Team fees are not included in your registration.  team fees may be collected by your team manager for team-specific expenses such as tournament fees, social events, appreciation gifts, etc. and will vary team to team.  A jersey deposit cheque of $100 per game jersey will be required at the beginning of the season, payable to the Association.  This cheque will be cashed if the jersey is not returned in good condition at the end of the season.


We are an association that runs entirely thanks to our volunteers,  Each family in U10-18+ will be required to volunteer 2-3 hours per registered player during our annual Icebreaker Tournament in November.  A $60 volunteer deposit cheque will be required at the beginning of the season per registered player, payable to the Association.  This cheque will be cashed should the individual not fulfill their volunteer hours during the Icebreaker Tournament.  In addition, during the season, each family will be responsible for team duties such as being a coach, manager, or minor official during games and other tournaments attended by the team.
