Power Skating Registration 2018

FUN 1 & 2 Beginner PowerSkate

Three lessons have been contracted with Lee Boy, a certified Power Skating Instructor with the Vancouver Skate Club. Lee will work on basic skating skills, including balance, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning and agility.  Skaters are to attend in full gear with ringette stick.

Ice times will be at 7:45 a.m. at Karen Magnussen Arena on:

Jan. 13 

Feb. 10

Cost:  $30 

At least 10 registrants are required for the sessions to go ahead so please encourage your team-mates to register.

 

Power Skate Level 1 

Four power skate sessions and one bonus ringette skills session have been set up for U10, new U12 and U14 players (started in 2017 or later). Skating skills will be instructed by certified Power Skating instructor, Lee Boyd, with the Vancouver Skate Club. She will cover forward and backward skating, forward and backward stopping and tight turns.  The bonus session on November 4th will be run by Kailey Magrath and Joelle Stadnyk.  Kailey is a member of BC’s Canada Winter Games team and was last year’s U19 Canadian Skills Champion in the “fastest skater” and “agility” categories. Joelle is a long time ringette coach and former Open player with NWVRA.

Ice times will be as follows:

·         Nov 4, 6:30 – Bonus Session: Ringette Skills with Kailey & Joelle

·         Nov 25, 7:45

·         Dec 2, 7:45

·         Feb 3, 7:45

·         March 10, 7:45

Power Skate Level 2 
These sessions will be instructed by certified Power Skating instructor, Lee Boyd, with the Vancouver Skate Club. They will cover forward and backward crossovers, quick starts and backward to forward 180 pivot turn. These sessions will be instructed by certified Power Skating instructor, Lee Boyd, with the Vancouver Skate Club. Players in this group are likely U12 or U14B.

Power Skate Level 3 
These five power-skating sessions will be instructed by certified Power Skating instructor, Lee Boyd, with the Vancouver Skate Club. They will cover fast forward crossover starts, forward to backward 180 pivot turns, reverse pivot turns, and 1 foot back stops with a quick start. Time permitting, knee spin-o-rama, forward side stop/start 1ft, circle work (agility), 360 tight glide turns, reverse 360 pivot turns, forward crossover-quick change of direction will also be touched on. Players in this group are likely high level U14B, U14A and U16.
