The Challenges and Joys of Small Space Gardens
Saturday January 20, 2018
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Floral Hall, VBG
This seminar, led by Janis Matson, is about the challenges and the joys of small space gardening.
From exposure to scale, we will explore some of the basics of design with a special emphasis on our urban spaces. We will learn how to create movement and how to add a unique touch to a garden, with the why's and how's thrown in.
Janis will discuss with us integrated gardening and how it adds to the enjoyment of herbs, fruit
and vegetables - companion planting and harvesting - in your small spaces. We will then identify and recognize some ornamental plant favourites while exploring the fabulous world of
colour and texture.
Janis is very creative, enthusiastic and enjoys the challenge of making garden spaces look good and feel good. She is the owner/operator of Shoreline Landscape Design Ltd for over 20 years and currently a Faculty instructor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Langley. Janis  is also a contract faculty instructor with Burnaby Community Education and an adult education instructor at VanDusan Gardens.
