Event JunMem10Speed Theory Cycling Membership 2010  -  Thu, 01-Oct-2009 - Tue, 31-Aug-2010

JUNIOR (Age 17 and UNDER) MEMBERSHIP

2010 Speed Theory Cycling JUNIOR Membership

NOTE:  This membership is ONLY valid for athletes 17 and UNDER. Speed Theory Cycling actively encourages youth to participate in cycling and reconize that fee consessions must be made to encourage a cool racing lifestyle early in life. I have only modified the fee structure for these athletes. The benefits AND COMMITMENTS remain the same. This means that these athletes are expected to volunteer at least once at a Speed Theory cycling hosted event.

If you are a 17 and under athlete who wants to bike race. That's awesome. We think you are cool.

The details:

Paying this Membership Fee assures your spot in a growing team of cyclists that train and race as a team, not just as a club. Our philosophy is to gather new cyclists to our sport and help them learn the technical and training aspects of cycling and, if they choose, attempt to inflict pain on others during competition. Also; to encourage bike racing in general, be good ambassadors to the sport, and have fun while doing it.

There are many benefits, but also some responsibilities of being on the team. The assumption is that everyone who joins plans to volunteer at at least one of our events we host. The major event we expect most members to volunteer for will be the Jason Lapierre Memorial Cycling Weekend which will take place probably in July or August. We will confirm a date as soon as possible to help you schedule it in to your life. This event has established itself as Alberta's flagship cycling weekend put on by a race team.

If you are a new member and need kit, the minimum you need to buy before any road races is a jersey, everything else is optional. If you are an old member and want more kit, then no problem. You will receive an amazing deal on all racing kit 'essentials' when the new shipment of clothes is ordered in early Febuary and arrives around late March. This includes: jersey, shorts, bibs, jacket, helmet, bootie covers, socks, etc. Trev will send out an email early in 2010 with order, payment and sizing requests.

Please ensure the email you have entered for this registration is valid and you check it regularly as this will be the one the team uses to communicate with you.

This ST Cycling Membership DOES NOT include your ABA Race License, which can be purchased at your convienience at any point in 2010. You will receive an email from ST Cycling notifying you when and how to apply for your race license when the time comes.

Your JUNIOR membership fees are broken down as follows:

1.) CHANGED:  from $48 ST Cycling Club dues to $15,

2.) Club incurred expenses from the ABA as follows: $35 insurance fee per rider, WAIVED: $20 (portion of) team fee, WAIVED: $20 (portion of) Commisaire fee.

Therefore, for Juniors, the fee for Club Membership is only $50.

Important clarification: This is not an official or government-registered 'club' in any respect except that we are registered in good standing with the ABA and covered by their insurance. Essentially Speed Theory Cycling is a group of like-minded people that agree with the philosophy that people should get on and ride a bike as a lifestyle, race it hard if they want, and give back to the racing/cycling community when they can. We have no board and no casino funding. It is just Trev and several dedicated volunteers providing you with the opportunity to put our collective philosophy to work.

This ST Cycling Membership DOES NOT include your ABA Race License, which can be purchased at your convienience at any point after Feb. 2010. The ABA race license is approximately $125. You will receive an email from ST Cycling notifying you when and how to apply for your race license when the time comes.

Your membership fees are broken down as follows:

1.) $50 ST Cycling Club dues,

2.) Club incurred expenses from the ABA as follows: $35 insurance fee per rider, $20 (portion of) team fee, $20 (portion of) Commisaire fee.

You will notice, the club coffers do not see much of your membership fee unfortunately. However, we see more with increased members as the team fee is a fixed cost, and the Commisaire fee goes up in increments of roughly 10 members. Therefore, please encourage membership participation and of course cycling in general.
