Bridging the gap Between Division 03 and Division 09

Chris has worked in the floor covering industry for over 27 years. During this time, he has been a flooring contractor, manufacturer's representative and business owner. As CEO of the National Floor Covering Association (NFCA), he works with the Board of Directors to promote NFCA standards and updated flooring specifications for commercial floor covering installations. He also operates the NFCA's Quality Assurance Program - a specifiable, third party inspection review service for commercial projects, and is a certified floor inspector. Chris speaks at trade shows and conferecnes to educate all construction parties and promote the standards detailed in the NFCA Floor Covering Reference Manual.
 

Successful floor covering installations require dry, flat and smooth concrete slab surfaces. But what is dry, flat, and smooth enought?. How do we avoid the problems that so often lead to slab rejection and delay?This talk will review the topic of bridging the gap between the concrete placement and finishing trade and the floor covering installer. Chris will discuss reasons for slab rejection, acceptable surfaces, measurement methods, and how to avoid the problems.  He will also share some of the specification resources avaulable to CSC to support best practices.

Specifically:

1. To provide background on reasons for rehection of finished concrete flooring
2. Provide understanding on the measurement methods of finishing
3. To provide increased insight on the difference between concrete placement and finished flooring.
