Fairmont Hot Springs Multi-Day Ride

When: Tue, 16-Jul-2024 09:00 - Fri, 19-Jul-2024 14:00

Where: Fairmont, BC

This is an overnight cycling event to Fairmont Hot Springs.  Each participant is welcome to bring a well maintained road bike, and/or a pedal assist E-bike, and be able to manage a minimum of 15 kmh.  RWGPS would be useful, but is not required for this no drop ride.  All cyclists agree to follow EBTC rules, traffic laws, safe cycling practices, and ride leader instructions.

Day 1:  Wed. July 17 - Cycle from Cranbrook to Marysville along Northstar Rails to Trail route.  A coffee in St Mary's, then a short walk to Mary's Falls.  Cycle back to Cranbrook using Northstar Rails to Trail.  Approx. 44 km with 250 metres of elevation on multi-use paths with gentle slopes. NOTE: There is NO van support.

Day 2:  Thurs. July 18 - Fairmont Hot Springs along Westside Legacy Trail to Invermere and back.  Beverage and food break in Invermere.  Approx. 55 km with 640 metres in elevation on multi-use paths. NOTE: There is NO van support!

Day 3:  Fri. July 19 - Optional activity day.  E.G. Hiking (Wilmer Wetlands, Lower Bugaboo falls, Panorama Ski hill area, Kootenay National Park);  Kayaking in wetlands; Beach day with standup paddleboard rentals (Kinsmen Beach in Invermere), Golfing, etc.  Your choice!

This is a ride where all participants are responsible for organizing their own accommodations, food, and transportation.  Each day will be a "meet-up", arriving each day at the designated time and location.   Note:  Sonja and Freeman will host one "pot-luck" supper at their accommodations in Fairmont.  If people are interested for a second night, we could arrange a supper where we make a reservation at a local restaurant.
