Waitlist for CFAA Practical Test
Before you Register, Ensure you are Ready
1. In order to take this test you need to hold a valid CFAA Registered Trainee Number. If you register without it, HSMC is obliged to cancel the appointment and will refund your money less a handling fee of $50.00.
2. Use this “Readiness Interview” to help you assess your readiness.
How the Test is Conducted
- This is an open-book test: We have the ULC S537:19 Standards, Specification Sheets and Operational Manual available for your use.
- The test is done one student at a time, with a CFAA-Approved Proctor.
- It is a complete verification carried out on a small but complete conventional system.
- You do not need to bring any tools.

Exam Preparation Tips
To succeed, study the S537-19 standard thoroughly. If you don’t have a copy, please obtain one—it’s essential for your exam. Start by reviewing the Glossary to understand key definitions; searching for them during the exam can waste valuable time.
Gain practical experience and document it in your Trainee Logbook for the best preparation. Time management and correct paperwork are the keys to passing.
