Join CSC for an exclusive site tour of the Market Lands development in Winnipeg’s Exchange District, followed by refreshments and networking at Nonsuch Brewing Co.
Located on the former Public Safety Building site, Market Lands is a transformative mixed-income, mixed-use development designed to achieve net-zero energy consumption. This $54 million project, led by UWCRC 2.0 in partnership with Centre Venture Development Corporation, represents a significant step forward in sustainable urban development and inclusive housing in Winnipeg.
The completed 10-storey building will feature 102 residential units ranging from studio to two-bedroom layouts, along with a Creative Hub occupying the first and second floors. The development emphasizes a mixed-income model to foster a diverse and inclusive community, prioritizing housing for newcomers, refugees, Indigenous peoples, women, children, and individuals living with disabilities. Of these units, 52 will be affordable and income-tested at approximately 59% of CMHC Median Market Rent, with 30% designed as barrier-free or barrier-free adaptable.
